"All Consuming Fire" represented a great deal for my work.  But what it meant for my life was an even bigger deal.

 

It meant I finally had my career in my hands.  No longer did I wait from the wings.  I was able to reach you, the audience, directly, and communicate my heart and soul to you through my music.

I had lived my entire life solely on faith. I prayed as a child for protection from danger.  There was turbulence at home. And so, my sister and I often got in a room and began to sing when I was 7. We sang all kinds of songs, but the ones we gravitated to were inspirational.  I found comfort singing in church as a child.  Then I sang at school.  A few years later while still a teenager, I sang in nightclubs.  Music was always a source of hope for me.  So it made sense that I wanted to begin my album project with a song that spoke about faith.  I recorded All Consuming Fire with that in mind.  This song represents the beginning of everything.

The recording studio and the stage is where I feel most at home.  It was a joy to get into a room and do all the vocals; there were fifteen of them.  I heard these harmonies in my head.

 

It was a thrill to direct my first music video.  We shot the film over a few days in Southern California.  I had written the script, managed the storyboards, and worked with a great crew.  Getting the shots were hard work.  But in the end, it was beautiful.  We were all committed to capturing the story, and then, unexpectedly, we found the story unfolding right before our eyes.

 

Life can bring us many surprises.
